FAQs

What type of bacterial culture do you use?

We use a blend of acidophilus and bifidus cultures (L. Acidophilus, L. Rhamnosus, L. Plantarum, B. Lactis, B. Bifidum). These five strains of freeze-dried, probiotic microorganisms specifically target the small and large intestine, improving intestinal microflora and digestive processes. The probiotic formula we use does NOT contain dairy, sugar, gluten, soy, corn, casein, yeast, artificial colours, flavours, preservatives, FOS, or any Genetically Modified or engineered ingredients.

What’s the best before date/shelf life of your food products?

All of our cultured cashew products are marked with a best before date (mm/dd/yy) of six weeks from production.

Do you sell your products online and ship them?

We do not have an online shop, but SPUD.ca and Good Goods Co. delivers our products in the Edmonton area, and The Organic Box delivers our products within Alberta. Check our Retailers page for locations that sell Truffula near you.

Are your products suitable for vegans?

Yes! All of our products are plant-based and our cultured cashew products are fermented with a dairy-free probiotic culture.

Are your products gluten-free?

We do not use any grains or gluten in our kitchen, but we are not certified gluten-free.

What does certified organic ingredients mean? Is Truffula certified organic?

Each province in Canada has its own regulations for organic foods, but Truffula has not yet begun the process. However, we source most of our ingredients (nuts, seeds, herbs, and spices) from certified organic producers and suppliers. The only products Truffula uses that aren’t certified organic are spring water, Himalayan mountain sea salt, and evoolution’s white truffle gourmet olive oil. We chose evoolution’s oil because they follow organic practices and because they use real white truffles to flavour their extra virgin olive oil.

Where do you source your organic cashews?

We work with a supplier that offers certified organic and ethically produced cashews from Vietnam.
